Charlotte Fitzhardinge is an Australian artist working predominantly with painting and found imagery. Her practise is informed by ongoing concerns around chance, nostalgia and the merging of art and life. She views the canvas as a place for experimentation, contemplating what new associations and emotions can be brought to pre-existing source material. This method also allows her to represent of a wide variety of individuals and subjects, including many realms and pictorial spaces within one work. In an age of rapidly changing imagery and sensory overload, she is interested in preserving images from the past, as well as instilling a delay in the audience's consumption of images.
