Samantha Strong is an Australian artist who resides in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Completing a Bachelor of Fine Art at the National Art School, Samantha primarily works in oil and acrylic paint exploring the enigmatic intricacies of the human eyes and the uncanny, in which she examines the eye's profound ability to disclose our deepest emotions which shape our human experience. Her work touches on the mystique the eyes possess, examining how presence and absence interact with one another. Sigmund Freud's concept of the uncanny is the basis of Samantha's artistic exploration. Through the eyes, Samantha delves deep into the uncanny creating a surreal quality within her art, through which the familiar establishes a sense of unease.
