My work focuses on the relationship between colour and memory. The use of colour within my prints aims to visually explore the psychological process of viewing memories through colour. In my experience when thinking of memories I have a complex synesthetic colour field of view within my mind. My works reflect memories in this sense, using screen printing I'm able to create physical snap shots of colour representing memories and emotional states through my art. Colour has always played a key role within my practice. With the discovery of screen printing I was able to create works displaying the merging of many colours simultaneously. With the use of CMYK I’m able to visually render memory and neural archives in a rainbow-esk and neon manner. This draws attention to the responders' own subjective memories when they see such colours. The process of screen printing enables me to create precise images while also maintaining the freedom to display movement through the prints. The physicality of swiping the ink down the screen along with the syrupy medium of screen printing ink allows for the print to showcase this movement. Print as a process also lends itself to the goal of my works, while prints can be a part of an edition no hand made print is exactly the same as another, much like memories themselves. My works are a conduit of colour leading the viewer into the heart of my memories.
