Natalie Binetter is an emerging Sydney-based artist. She works as a painter, primarily using oils and acrylics to render a variety of subjects, with a creative focus on imagined landscapes.
Inspired by the aesthetics of the Sublime, the psychological exploration of Surrealism and Roland Barthes’s 1967 essay ‘Death of The Author’, these imagined exteriors act as tools to explore one’s own complex interior.
She brings a staged sensibility to the dreamlike spaces she creates, purposefully imbuing the works with a sense of ambiguous narrative, temporal liminality, and a void, that is at times uncomfortable, as grounds for personal interpretation and inner exploration.
