Michelle Van Eimeren (b. 1972 Sydney) is an Australian artist based in Gundungurra country, Robertson, NSW. Her practice incorporates various media working across painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and installation. A deep reverence for nature, colour, material experimentation and process has informed her most recent body of work based on themes of the lived experience evident within the environment and the resonance of the human experience.
Michelle examines the complexities of memory with consideration to formation and retrieval in relation to trauma, transformation and healing. Central to the work are long silk panels which have been printed using an ecologically based contact print process, using only pigments from seasonal, locally foraged plant matter, providing an immersive installation space for contemplation and reflection. Other works include, stretched botanically printed silk, etched panels and paintings which are an impassioned response to the printed botanicals in abstract form.
