Kenya is a multi-disciplinary artist working across the mediums of ceramics, sculpture and painting.
In her practice, she examines the beauty in the mundane.
She explores the reality of one’s self, the materiality that co-exists in the everyday landscape and how we engage with it day to day.
Kenya attempts to push how identity and connection lend themselves to each other as a whole and the state it becomes in the end. To show this Kenya attempts to break down the figurative form into three parts, shape, colour and materiality. She then recreates it, ultimately building it back up again to the way she envisions it.
In a sense, Kenya teases the idea that everything is an illusion and that one can make a space in one’s mind that is entirely theirs to inhabit, with or without one’s knowledge of it. Paying tribute to the imperfect and nuanced.
