Katelyn Scott is an Australian artist, exploring playful combinations of material and medium to collect memories and fragmented ideas in the surface of a painting.
Her works are distinguished by subtle marks and bleached colours, embracing an ambiguity between the known and the unknown, mimicking unfinished thoughts sprawled across the space.
Building up layers of marks and colour through a process of removing and rediscovering. Katelyn creates a history within the painted surface. Accompanying each work with unconventional materials imitating frames or supports to generate a series of discreet connections between the imaginary world of paint and the materiality of everyday life.
