Collection: Fei (Leo) Geng

Fei (Leo) Geng’s work is installation artwork. This work is presented in its simplest form -- the cardboard box that keeps accumulating. They may be boxes that arrive in the morning, cartons of the same or different sizes that have been sorted out the day before or scattered on the floor, and many have been unpacked and packed. They all have something in common; they all have words on the outer skin and they all have some unique style.
This is a microcosm of the living circumstances of many immigrants. It is not a reproduction of a scene, but a constantly accumulating set of boxes creating a feeling of oppression, a double feeling in the mind and body. It is also a metaphor for a feeling of helplessness found in the perception of various people, things, and things encountered in work and life.
Fei Geng no longer obsesses over the mere expression of sculptural language or form. In his work these seemingly unconstrained placements are an invisible beauty. That kind of unrestrained placement forms a unique visual experience and space.
