Vuorinen’s work largely describes a mingling of spirituality, the occult and architecture. It explores ideas of impermanence, mortality and the non-physical by use of fragile plasters, translucent rendering of paint and decorative mark-making from cast-iron. Her most recent work employs stencilling of found objects, including decorative ironwork via spray-paint on plastered canvas. Reclaimed objects are manipulated to create ambiguous shapes that conjure ideas of liminality. Her work explores boundaries between what is tangible and what is ephemeral, what is familiar and what is unrecognisable.
